Hey goddess Gouri, what all flowers do you wish to have for your Bathkamma floral units...
Aren't Oleander flowers one of your favourites...
"
and so on and so forth, goes on a famous Bathkamma folk song.....
(In each para, the name of the flowers are interchanged to continue the same tune...)
and there are many such folk songs celebrating the spirit of the mighty Bathkamma festivel...
The almighty worship via various fragrant flowers is a widely celebrated traditional custom in the Sanatana Dharamam since times before times...
and such beautiful flowers are worshipped as almighty in the Bathkamma festivel.....!
Flowers symbolize many things both physically and metaphysically...Each and every flower is a unique gift of god to the planet earth...
Have you ever observed an intricately perplexing weaving style of petals held by a flower's "kaaDa"
(the stem/twig that we hold to show a flower)...?
Sadguru Shree Chaganti gaaru talks about the greatness of God that can be seen in creating the amazing pattern of a flower's umpteen petals held by it's twig/stem in such an awe-inspiring fashion.....
A flower is a beautiful combination of hues and aroma that together make its identity along with its size and shape....and the greatness of every flower, inclusive of a neem tree's flower, is that they contain nectar for a honeybee to collect and transform it into one of the most miraculous food, the honey...
Even if the world completes a few more centuries to create and surround itself with as many scientific and technological advancements as it can, no scientist can ever create a machine or technology that can extract nectar from flowers and transform it into honey....
Hence, the study of a nectarine flower is essentially the study of the secrets of the universe....
Because a flower essentially contains the amalgamated philosophy of the 5 cardinal elements of the universe......
1. Aakaasam / Sky
2. Vaayu / Air
3. Agni / Fire
4. Jalam / Water
5. Pruthwi / Earth
and their associated "panchatanmaatra" equations of
1. Shabdam / Sound
2. Vaasana / a flower's aroma is sniffable
3. Choopu / flower is viewable
4. Ruchi / a flower is edible..(cauliflower..🙂)
5. Sparsha / a flower is tangible
Just in-case if someone wonders how a flower can have sound, the spiritual science imparts the sound of a honeybee to the sound of a flower and thus a flower has sound too....
Upon a careful observation, any given typical human being's life revolves around these pancha-tanmaatralu / 5 metaphysical elements
as the driving factor of a human life....
Some people are so fond of some songs or tunes so much so that they forget the entire world around them while engrossed in listening to those songs...
Here their ears or more precisely their Shravanendriyam, has made them captivated and thus they have gone out of mind from being vigilant...
Some people are so fond of some aromas so much so that they forget the entire world around them while engrossed in sniffing those perfumes....
Here their nose or more precisely their Ghraanendriyam, has made them captivated and thus they have gone out of mind from being vigilant...
Some people are so fond of looking at some movies or TV shows or some other feel good stuff,
so much so that they forget the entire world around them while engrossed in watching them...
Here their eyes or more precisely their Nayanendriyam, has made them captivated and thus they have gone out of mind from being vigilant...
Some people are so fond of some dishes so much so that they forget the entire world around them while engrossed in eating those foods....
Here their mouth or more precisely their Jihvendriyam, has made them captivated and thus they have gone out of mind from being vigilant...
Some people are so fond of holding something so much so that they forget the entire world around them while engrossed in being with them....
Here their touch or more precisely their Twakendriyam, has made them captivated and thus they have gone out of mind from being vigilant...
The entire world around us is perceived only via these 5 / pancha-tanmaatralu.
The difference between a few Yogis or high-order ascetic/saadhus, who live in this world like any other typical human being, and all other typical human beings is that, the former are not bounded by any of these 5 / pancha-tanmaatralu whereas the latter are.....
For example, a typical human being, when watching a movie or a TV show, gets engrossed in it so much so that they start reacting to various situations in it as if it is some real drama happening out there.
Where as a Yogi, when asked to watch a movie, watches it as some reel drama that doesn't invoke any kind of reactions from him for that his mind has sustained his exalted consciousness in a supra sensory plane that exists way beyond the typical sensory plane ruled by the aforementioned 5 / pancha-tanmaatralu...
i.e., when a comedian say, Brahmaanandam gaaru, cracks some funny joke, saying
" Rey jaffa gaa...neeku dinambetta....naa mohaana inta coffee padei antay... taagadaaniki o cup coffee ivvamani ardham..antay kaani...naa moham meeda coffee poyyamani kaaduraa...."
we laugh at this reel situation so much so that we forget ourselves for a moment by reacting to that comedy....
Where as a Yogi witnessing the same reel joke neither laughs nor reacts for that for him it is all about some person answering another person for a situation of mishandling a coffee cup that was supposed to be kept on the table below instead of pouring the same on the face of some person...
From this simple low level typical example to any and every given high level universal drama, a typical human being reacts to a given situation whereas a Yogi makes himself / herself a mere witness to a given situation because his sensory plane is mostly dormant towards this outer world and is active inwards / towards the inner world i.e., essentially out of this world...
In the golden words of sathguru ShreeChaaganti gaaru, AadiparaaShakti is extolled as
"Mahaa maayaa vishwam bhramayasi parabrahma mahisheem..."
which essentially speaks of our consciousness getting revolved around the 5 / panchatanmaatra
preraka prapanchaanubhawa sthiti.....
and she is extolled by Vaagdevatalu in the highly meritorious ShreeLailtaaSahasranaamaavaLi saying "PanchatanmaatraSaayaka....." to earmark the fact that all these 5 pancha-tanmaatralu when we make the almighty's instruments via our sincere prayers, those blessings will transform our consciousness from being a typical human being's consciousness to that of a Yogi's exalted supra consciousness that is capable of watching the entire universal Drama happening infront of us inclusive of us in that dramatic world....
It might sound a bit strange if someone says that they are watching a drama called "world", in which they too are a part of the same, that too at the same point in time....
However, it can be understood only when such an exalted Yogic state is attained only via God's sheer grace....
In Shree Arunaachala Ramana Maharshi's golden words, "Naan yaar..? / "Who am I..? A journey into the deep silence...", answers this question to the seeker....
Now let's come back to the actual topic of the greatness of flowers / Bathkamma festivel....
As per the aforementioned explanation, flowers hold the keys to various universal dramas that keep happening in this mighty multiverse.... of which many are usually ignored by a typical human being because we hardly get any time and interest to even properly watch our own full moon...setting aside everything that happens above the moon's plane...
If we cannot look outwards, then look inwards..
because the mighty Shruti vaakyam goes....
"ChandramaManasojaataha.....
ChakshoSooryoaajayata..."
God's worship with flowers and then the worship of flowers as God is known to bestow these blessings to every given devotee.....
Have you ever wondered how a pendulum in a big wall clock sways here and there....?
Similar to how a cradle sways back and forth...
Similar to how a heart beats saying lub-dub lub-dub.....
Similar to how a tick tock device sounds....
tick-tock tick-tock....
This entire universe is filled with sounds of various magnitudes ranging from lowest wavelengths to highest wavelengths..... Understanding this acoustic phenomenon is essentially understanding the entire Universe and its typical unfathomable nature by the grace of God....
And thus it is said,
బతుకమ్మ బతుకమ్మ ఉయ్యాలో....
బంగారు బతుకమ్మ ఉయ్యాలో...
May the worship of flowers intrinsic to the mighty Golden festival of Bathkamma bless all the devotees with good health and happiness....
Wishing one and all a very happy Durga Navaraatri utsawa prayukta Saddula Bathukamma festivel......💐🙂🌼🥧🌸🏵️🌹🌻🌿🍕🍨🌷🍧🍒🍑🌾🍇🫐🪻
