Informative details on the interlaced path connecting various temple towns.....

The name "Madurai" reminds me of an incident from sathguru Shree ChaagaTi gaari pravachanams... where in a typical middle class ascetic person is insulted by the then Archaka fraternity of the Madurai MeenaakShi temple by not allowing him in to the temple premises.....
The former simply grabs a coconut and prays Meenaakshi to transfuse the "16" ShoDaSha kaLalu from her Garbhaalaya Moorthy so that he can carry the divinity with him to his own place.....
After the ShoDaSha Kalaakarshanam got completed successfully, he left the temple and in no time the Archaka group remains shell-shocked by observing that all the TapahShakti held by the MarakataMeenaakshi moorti was completely captured by that ascetic....

Later on they apologized him for their arrogance, after which they were re-instilled in to the MarakataMeenaakshi moorthy as usual with the appropriate recitals....

It is to be noted that unlike Kaashi  Vishaalaakshi and Kanchi Kaamaakshi, Meenaakshi was born as a Kshatriya warrior princess and married Sundareshwarar in a grand wedding ceremony arranged by Lord Shree MahaaVishnu and there after settled as goddess Meenaakshi Sundareshwarar in their Madurai province...
Thus, the form of goddess Meenaakshi heralds the divinity born and manifested on the planet earth....

I remain ever bowing to that (goddess) Minákshi, an ocean of compassion, who is radiant like the multitudes of rising Suns, and is resplendent with the bracelet and necklace and is having reddish lips (like the bimba fruit), with shining rows of smiling teeth, and decorated with silk garments, and is having the feet worshipped by the gods Vishnu, Brahmá and Indra and is of the form of the reality and is auspicious.
