Because of Perumaal's boon to ' Agasthya Maharshi ' during 'Paarvathi Kalyaanam' in Himalayas, Draavidam has attained eternal fame on par with Deva Bhaasha Sanskrith....More so, it probably is the only text that has sung Pallandu to Perumaal saying..

For those who can recall Sadguru SriChaaganTi gaari pravacahanam on PaarvatiKalyaanam....,
During that time earth had literally a balancing problem with almost every one rushing to Himavath's residence in Himalayas to attend the celestial wedding...
And that had created a chaos in the southern part of India upon which the hero of all trouble shooters Lord SriHari requested the great Agasthya Maharshi, who has that enormous penance power to balance that peculiar situation, to kindly consider relocating himself immediately to the southern DraaviDa desham to balance that never before occurred ' situation '....

With this Sage Agasthya was hesitative to leave the vicinity of Himalayas, Kaashi and other highly sacred northern places permanently, that he visits quite often....
Upon this Lord ShreeMahaaVishnu gave him various boons among which he blessed the draaviDa desham, draaviDa sampradaayam and draviDa bhaasha that would be the abode of sage Agasthya, with eternal fame and magnanimity on par with any other place and with that of the DevaBhaashaa Sanskrit....
( Lord also had several other good things in mind for the benefit of humanity at large with this episode of AgasthyaMaharshi's permanent relocation to South India like, to stop Vindhyaachalam from growing without any bounds which was becoming difficult to be controlled by anyone during those times. So he made Vindhyagiri mountain to bow at the feet of Agasthya Maharishi upon which the sage asked it to remain as is until he returns, which never happened as per his oath to Lord Vishnu and thus controlled the mountain's enormous growth for the well being of the planet. Agasthya Maharshi, though a short looking personality physically, has unparalleled 'tapahShakti' because of which he always had a great respect from all parts of the 14 worlds.
Once Lord Indra had to kill a few demons that have escaped in to the nether lands via secret under sea caves. So he requested Agasthya Maharishi to gulp all the seas so that DeavathaagaNam can easily find the where abouts of those caves and kill those AsuragaNam by closing them permanently who were pestering them quite often. Upon this Sage agasthya drank the entirety of waters on this planet in just 3 sips as his 'aachamana theertham' and helped devataas to carryout their demon annihilation activity.
After completing their task Lord Indra thanked and asked maharshi to leave the water back in to respective seas upon which sage Agasthya replied that it is not possible anymore as he already drank it long ago. Lord Indra stood aghast listening to this as it would disturb the nature's law for which he himself is the ruler and it would for sure create chaos on the planet.
So he requested sage to pardon them for their earlier ask and somehow restore the water in the seas for the universal well being which is the very purpose of all divine beings' existence.
Then sage Agasthya told that all he can do is to release the waters as his urine, if that is acceptable to Lord Indra. The latter thought that having some form of water is better than no water at all on the planet and said yes. Upon that sage Agasthya released the "KhshaaraLavaNabharithaKumbhakaJalam" in his abdomen and since then that extremely salty water is what our current 7 seas / oceans are....!

Hence our SanaatanaDharma elders have prohibited "SamudraSnaanam" as 'nishiddhakaaryam' in regular days and during special 'parvadivas' only "samantraka samudrasnaanam' is allowed by our Shaastraas.
In Kurnool YaaganTi kshetram, where science has no answers as to how a stone 'Nandi moorthi' is growing every year inline with specific measurements as explained in YaaganTi UmaaMaheshwara temple's archaeological notice board,
it can been seen that there is a mystic fresh water body called as "Agasthya Pushkarini" that is formed out of continuous water streams oozing off of the huge mountains, that gradually form a perennial water flow serving as a primary water source for all those drought prone surrounding areas and for their crops' cultivation as well....

And so on, sage Agasthya has sanctified several places across south India that are revered even today by many a scholastic research bodies.
